Speaking Honestly When It Costs
Producing honest signal inside cooperation under social pressure, especially when the easier move is to soften, delay, or hide what needs saying.

The Work
Cooperation needs honest signal. Not honesty as personal brand, and not bluntness used as permission to harm. Honest signal means the truth that the cooperative field needs in order to stay connected to reality.
The hard cases are not the moments when truth is easy. The hard cases are the draft where the premise is weak, the meeting where everyone is nodding, the relationship where one problem has become too expensive to raise, the public claim that feels good to share but has not been checked. The work of this category is producing that signal before silence becomes the official map.
The Bond fails toward Control when honesty becomes domination: correction without care, dissent as status display, truth used to win rather than to restore contact with reality. It fails toward Decay when people trade honest signal for comfort: flattery, delay, private dissent, public agreement. Speaking Honestly When It Costs holds the middle. Say what the cooperative field needs to hear, in a form that preserves the possibility of continued cooperation.
The Tools
Stewardship of the Epistemic Commons. Treating your information output as part of the shared reality cooperation depends on: verifying before sharing, correcting publicly, and acting as a filter rather than an amplifier.
Preference Falsification. Reading the gap between what people privately think and publicly say when social cost makes honesty dangerous.
