Each published version of COMPACT.md, what changed in it, and where the change is recorded.

The Compact // History

The Compact changes the way the rest of the Codex does: openly, with the reason for each change on record. This page lists every published version of COMPACT.md, newest first. A change that alters what the Compact asks of those who hold it is recorded in the Codex's [Amendment Log](https://meridiancodex.com/governance/amendment-log).

## Version 1.0, 14 October 2026

The first published version. It sets out the Meridian Compact in full: its ground, the three disciplines as twenty-one commitments with their practices, the use of the Inheritance, the disciplines in practice, responsibility, power and their limits, and how a holder takes the Compact up, adapts it and revises it. The Amendment Log records its publication in the entry [The Meridian Compact Set Out in Full](https://meridiancodex.com/governance/amendment-log#2026-10-14-the-meridian-compact-set-out-in-full-compactmd-10--what-changed).

Two practices drafted with this version are not part of it: care for those who cannot answer, and supporting another's agency. They are planned for the next version, with the January 2027 Inheritance Audit cycle.
